Pre-Planned Early Dismissal
Unfortunately, early dismissals of students have hit an all-time high, with multiple students leaving class every period. Not only does this disrupt teaching and learning of everyone, the dismissed student may miss more than 50% of the intended instruction since certain subjects are only taught twice a week.
For pre-planned early dismissals, please send your child into school with a hardcopy Pre-planned Early Dismissal Note to give to the teacher at the start of that school day. (this includes appointments where your child returns to school afterwards). The teacher will then send your child to the Front Office at the time listed on the Pre-planned Early Dismissal Note. Please do not send emails during the school day, as teachers are unable to check emails while they are teaching. Without a note before the start of the school day, you may need to wait until a transition from activity to activity to minimize classroom disruptions. This change will benefit all students and staff and allow for continuous learning. Please do not call the Front Office to announce you are on the way. Early dismissals on early release days are discouraged. If the early dismissal falls into the “excused” category, upload documentation to the attendance form. Thank you for understanding.
Required: Pre-Planned Early Dismissal Notes
Early dismissals have reached an all-time high and are disrupting learning. When students leave early—especially during classes that meet only twice a week—they may miss over 50% of instruction.
To help minimize disruptions, all pre-planned early dismissals are required to be sent in with a hardcopy note at the start of the school day. This includes appointments where your child will return to school. Your child should give the note directly to their teacher, who will send them to the Front Office at the correct time.
Please do not email teachers during the day—they are actively teaching and may not see it. Without a note, you may need to wait until a class transition to pick up your child. Do not call the office to announce you're coming.
Early dismissals on early release days are discouraged. If the dismissal is excused, please upload documentation to the attendance form.
Thank you for your understanding and support in keeping our classrooms focused and learning uninterrupted.
